Call for Artists: 3rd Annual ‘Food Art Show’

Call for Artists! The Humboldt Food Policy Council is now accepting entries for the 3rdannual Food Art Show. The show will run September 1 to September 30, 2019 at Foodwise Kitchen, Arcata, Ca. An artist reception will be held during the September 13, 2019 Arts! Arcata.

About: Local Food Month is a nationwide celebration of local food and local farmers intended to raise awareness of local food systems. Throughout September each year the Humboldt Food Policy Council hosts a local art show depicting local depictions or relationships with food. This year’s show is seeking artwork that reflects on the theme of “Food as Medicine”.  

Eligibility: Open to all artists

Media: Open to all mediums* (*out of respect for the beliefs and practices of the tribal communities that are native to this region, we ask that otherwise edible food not be used as a medium for pieces submitted for the show)

Theme: Food as medicine –pieces can depict anything that represents this concept

Entry Fee: None

Commission: None 

How to enter: Send an image of your piece(s)*, artwork dimensions, and your contact information to maypatino@gmail.com. If you do not receive confirmation that your submission has been received within 24 hours of sending, please re-send! *description(s) are fine if piece is planned, or still in the works

Deadline: August 18, 2019 –first come get first priority, so if you have a piece, or an idea for a piece for the show, we encourage you to get in touch soon!
